Deer Run Trail
The Deer Run Trail is a 5.7 kilometre off-road route which connects Algonquin, Nipissing and Huron campgrounds to the Park Store and then extends through the interior of the park towards the Administration building before connecting with the Rotary Way Trail. The trail then loops back into the park passing behind the Maintenance yard, through Algonquin campground and back to the Park Store. As you cycle this trail, former roadways and abandoned farmers fields are contrasted with silver maple and ash swamps.
Deer Run loop will be used for winter skiing for those who wish to enjoy the sights and sounds around MacGregor Point Park.
This 5km trail is generally groomed and flat with some winding and rolling sections. It will take you along the Deer Run through Algonquin campground, all the way to the Administration building, to the Park Store, and back. The two hills on the loop make it suited for those skiers who have skied before.
The Deer Run Trail has been extended in the winter to reach all the way from the Park Store to the two Group Camping sites. This 2.6 km extension trail runs from the Park Store, along Deer Run Extension to Huron campground, along the Main Park Road, all the way to the head of Group Camping sites 501 and 502. This trail may be packed and is generally flat so all levels of skiers may enjoy this wonderful experience.
