The 27th Huron Fringe Birding Festival
will be held
May 23 to 26 and May 29 - June 1, 2025.
Online Registration will be active on March 14 at 6 am
ALL-DAY EVENT participants will park, register and depart from the Campers Beach Parking Lot.
Most other events will start at the Visitor Centre. Generally, morning events return to the Visitor Centre by 11:30am (11:00am mornings of Nature Showcase); afternoon and all-day events return to their respective parking lots by 4:30pm (3:30pm on 1st Saturday); events by 3:00 pm.
We also offer some mobility limited events. This 🚗 indicates where vehicle transportation is required.
Every day at the Visitor Centre – Early morning coffee & treats. BBQ lunches daily 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
NATURE SHOWCASE at the Visitor Centre 11:00 am (1st Saturday)
Mix & mingle at The Nest over lunch. Check out the ‘By Donation’ Table in the Visitor Centre.
Youth (10-21) are welcome on Festival events (ages 10 -12 accompanied by an adult who is also registered for that event). Children under 10 are not allowed on Festival events.

Leader: Kiah JasperA11 7:15pm to 8:30pmJoin Kiah for an evening discussion about storms, rare birds and exciting photos. Most people know that weather and good birding go hand in hand. For example, going to Pelee on a rainy day can net you a fallout of warblers. If you dive deeper into it though, you can find ties between certain weather patterns and specific birds showing up, and use this knowledge to plan future birding trips.

AFTER DARK IN THE PARK WITH MARK 🚗

How feathers grow, the science of egg development and the deep and fascinating history of birds on earth. Join local wildlife biologist Jenna McGuire to take a deep dive into the world of birds, while highlighting local species and unique local bird narratives from a broader perspective beyond the names!

PORT ELGIN ANCIENT DUNE ECOLOGY
Leader: Bruce MackenzieA53 1:30pm to 4:30 pmParallel to the Lake Huron shore, this natural area contains a great example of sand dunes that were laid down shortly after the glaciers left. We will follow a ridge along one of the dunes and explore the forest ecology of this rare ecosystem. Spring wildflowers and migrating birds will reward our visit.

What started as a curious investigation, became a research project into the behaviour patterns of these magnificent creatures. And there is a love story!
A citizen scientist, David leads you on a walk through that life of the Eastern Coyote, sometimes humourous, sometimes heartbreaking, part science, and part storytelling and art, you will get a close look at the behaviour, spirituality and emotional life of the pack.

Please note that the $51 payable at the Resort covers the lunch and boat fee. Purchasing the lunch registers each person as a Resort guest and triggers insurance coverage for the boat tour.
